An ecological ode to the sea

diagonal_negra

Created in 1994 to inaugurate the Channel Tunnel, Xarxa Teatre takes the work of the Valencian poet Ausiàs March as its starting point to place before the spectator’s eyes an idyllic but also apocalyptic sea; a sea that is a source of life and a space that connects cultures, but also a sea in the midst of destruction, converted into a nuclear cemetery and permanently in flames due to oil catastrophes. The environmental message is today more present than ever, as is the scenic proposal. The use of pyrotechnics and mobile elements accompanies the voyage of a ship that, in a matter of seconds, transforms from an idyllic sailing ship to an oil tanker.
